    Ethie

Folks tear their hair and wonder where
    The joy of life's escaped.
    But Ethie has no time to whine;
    She's headed to the lake!

Her kettle sings, "Come in and sit.
    We'll chit-chat over tea."
Her outer circle some would call
    "Eccentric company".

A song about her life would note
    The bustle of a crowd.
    For Ethie's world's a symphony
    Of colors, scents and sounds.

She frequents shops (and ice cream stops).
Some say this treat's her vice.
But she attests, "It's 'sundae best'
    And three scoops should suffice."

Life's not a stream of harmony--
    A Pavarotti piece.
When sharps turn flat, she says a bit
    Of humor keeps the beat.

For many she's a source of strength.
    Though Ethie may be slight,
    A zestful, loving spirit is
    The measure of her might.
